— Park Introduction — Neidong National Forest Park
With the roaring sound of waterfalls and a fern-filled landscape by the mountains and water, the small and exquisite Neidong National Forest Recreation Area is a perfect place to enjoy tranquility and greenery along the upper reaches of Nanshi Creek. Neidong is considered the most accessible national forest recreation area in the Greater Taipei area. The main attraction is Neidong Waterfall. At the end of the waterfall trail, there are two levels with different scenery offering visitors a variety of experiences and a refreshing atmosphere filled with negative ions. Enjoy a cool afternoon forest bath at Neidong National Forest Recreation Area!
Wulai Yunxian Paradise
Wulai is located about 27 km southeast of Taipei City, the only mountain township in Taipei County. The area is full of green trees and flowing clear water, surrounded by mountains. The source of the famous Wulai Waterfall at the top offers lake and mountain scenery, ancient trees, misty forests, colorful butterflies, cicadas, and birds, like a hidden paradise. Due to cliffs along the Nanshi Creek, visitors could not fully enjoy this scenery, so the idea of an aerial cable car was developed to present the natural landscape in its entirety. Because the scenery changes beautifully with the seasons, it is called "Yunxian Paradise," meaning a fairyland in the clouds.
Wulai Cable Car
Originally, the Wulai Cable Car was only used for transporting timber. In 1963, due to growing tourist demand at Wulai Waterfall, it was officially opened for passenger transport, initially pushed by manpower. To meet increasing tourist numbers, mechanization with a diesel engine was implemented in 1974, and in 1987, a tunnel replaced the original turning platform at the waterfall station. The operating route from Wulai Station to Waterfall Station is about 1.6 km long, operating daily from 8:00 to 17:00, with adjusted times during summer peak season. It is a must-visit attraction for both adults and children at Wulai Old Street. (Closed for maintenance on the first Tuesday of each month)
Wulai Forestry Life Museum
Formerly the Wulai Cable Car Museum, it offers spectacular waterfall views and preserves historical cable car artifacts. The museum provides daily cable car rides and on-site guided tours, as well as weekend wellness and art activities, ideal for nature and art enthusiasts. (Closed every Tuesday)
Wulai Waterfall
Wulai Waterfall is the tallest waterfall in northern Taiwan and was listed as one of Taiwan’s eight scenic spots during the Japanese era, also known as the "Waterfall of Clouds." When rainfall is abundant, it forms two cascading streams from the valley, showing magnificent scenery. In spring, visitors can also enjoy blooming pink cherry blossoms near the waterfall, enhancing the forested landscape.
Wulai Old Street
"Wulai Old Street" refers to the area around Wulai Street, Waterfall Road, and Huan Shan Road. The shop signs are uniform and neat, with most stores showcasing indigenous特色. Visitors can taste indigenous mountain cuisine such as charcoal-grilled wild boar, hot spring eggs, shell ginger rice, bamboo rice, Ma-kaw dishes, bird’s-nest fern, and scallions, which are rare elsewhere. There are also local specialties like millet wine and millet mochi, suitable as souvenirs. Additionally, visitors can enjoy indigenous singing and dancing performances, feeling the vibrant energy of the local culture.
Wulai Visitor Center
During your visit, you can go to the Wulai Visitor Center to explore. The center provides travel brochures and commemorative stamp activities to deepen your understanding of Wulai. Outside, visitors can enjoy the foot soak pool on the right side of the entrance to relax (please bring a small towel to dry your feet).
